Bosnian sevdah band Divanhana, presents their new sevdalinka “Vino piju nane age Sarajlije” to all of their respectful followers. The song was released in collaboration with a Broadway star, Bradley Dean.
Divanhana and the acknowledged American artist collaborated on the project “Večer Broadwaya (Evening of Broadway )” at the end of March, 2018. The project was sponsored by the United States Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where they performed songs from famous musicals. Playing together they have managed to connect the instrumental and rhythmical beauty of Bosnian folk music and Broadway’s concert repertoire, and to create a successful symbiosys, resulting with two sold out concerts in Sarajevo and Banja Luka.
Led by creativity they had spent one working day in studio together and recorded a sevdalinka “Vino piju nane age Sarajlije”.
“We are exceptionally proud of our collaboration with Mr. Bradley Dean, which has managed to bring together maybe even incompatible – sevdah and Broadway. Love towards the art and dedication to music, has brought us to the source of our creation and has opened a door to new worlds. During the realisation of the concert’s concept of the project “Večer Broadwaya i sevdaha” (Evening of Broadway and Sevdah)” we spent seven wonderful days with Mr. Dean and we came up with the idea to release the sevdalinka “Vino piju age Sarajlije” to try to paint the colors of the world we belong to. I must emphasize that we have especially been fascinated by Bradley’s honesty in interpretation, which has outreached our expectations, regardless of the language barrier. I believe that this is the beginning of a mutual journey and a quest for the genuine beauty of creation.
We are happy to present a very different and special song to all of our fans and to everyone who loves sevdah. I believe that we have showed that sevdah belongs to everyone, and I am sure that with this song we’ll paint the world with more beautiful and brighter colors”, said the singer of the Divanhana band, Naida Čatić.
The song and the video had been recorded in Long Play Studio in Sarajevo. It is produced by a long-term band’s associate Borjan Milošević. The video is edited by Kenan Pašić.
It is worth mentioning that Bradley Dean has performed on Broadway in musicals “Evita”, “A Little Night Music”, “Man of La Mancha”, Sting’s musical “The Last Ship” and many more. Internationally, he has performed musicals “Jekyll and Hyde” and “The Rocky Horror Show”. Right now, he is a lecturer at a prestigious University of New York.
