We remember how we traveled to Belgrade on the 21st of December in 2012.
That year was unusually cold with a lot of snow and freezing temperatures. It was also unusual (as it seemed at the time) because that day was mentioned in an ancient prophesy as the day the world would end. Everybody was talking about the extinction of the human race, while we were recording Santic’s “Emina” at Hilandarska Street No2. It was a particularly long day and we were recording the song for what felt like an eternity – over 20 takes in the end! Our former band member Leila was passionate about every single note of the song and didn’t stop until every single note was sung to perfection. On that day, we didn’t know where the notes would carry us or how long it would take, but we did know that even the end of the world couldn’t stop us from singing and playing with all of our hearts! Our song was sevdah for us. And sevdah for all of you.
Today, in another unusual time, we know from our past experience that we just need to stay calm, turn up the sevdah, the love, and the warmth. And eat a bit of chocolate.<\/p>
