Divanhana presents the official release of the song and music video “Domovina”
Unique sevdah composition created as a collective work of thousands of voices from around the world
The song, imbued with strong messages of belonging, peace, and unity, represents the second single from the band’s new studio album, Radio Sevdah. Its musical leitmotif draws from the traditional composition “Bosno moja, divna mila”, now enriched with contributions from people of diverse religious and national backgrounds, forming a timeless global choir that conveys shared values of community, identity, and freedom.
The realization of this project included audiences who attended Divanhana’s concerts throughout the region, from Belgrade, Zagreb, and Podgorica, through Sarajevo and Ljubljana. Additionally, vocal ensembles from different parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina lent their voices to the song. Thousands of voice recordings arriving from across the globe were finally woven into “Domovina”, making it a unique musical testimony of worldwide togetherness.
Lead vocalist Selma Droce explains the concept: “Our initial idea was to record the audience during our concerts. Following that, we reached out to professional choirs and vocal groups in Bosnia and Herzegovina, developing truly inspiring collaborations while working with people of different generations and musical backgrounds. The final step was a public invitation on social networks, encouraging people to send their own recordings of a segment from ‘Bosno moja, divna mila’. In this way, ‘Domovina’ united thousands of voices, reminding us of who we are, where we come from, and what continues to connect us today. We are grateful to every single participant for their support, trust, and the immense love they have infused into this song.”
Through this work, Divanhana reaffirms its longstanding commitment to preserving and elevating traditional music. The band highlights that the deepest bond with their audience has always been created through sevdah—music that belongs to anyone who feels it as their own. This shared sentiment inspired the desire to capture and eternalize the collective energy of everyone who has stood with them over the years.
The accompanying music video serves as a visual postcard of Bosnia and Herzegovina, celebrating the country’s natural beauty and cultural–historical heritage. Directed by Sallex Perić in collaboration with MONO Digital, the video blends documentary warmth with artistic imagination, transforming every frame into a dedicated homage to the landscapes of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In a time of global division and increasing social isolation, “Domovina” stands as a powerful artistic project that reaffirms unity, peace, and freedom, evoking the spirit of the former Radio Sarajevo.
The album Radio Sevdah, from which “Domovina” originates, has already achieved remarkable success. Within its first month, it reached the number one position on the prestigious WMCE list of European world music radio authors, and secured a place among the top ten artists on the Transglobal World Music Chart.
