Renowned sevdah ensemble Divanhana, which has spent the past decade bringing the traditional music of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the world stage while enriching the repertoire of contemporary music inspired by tradition, proudly presents their latest single, Rijekama.
Continuing their artistic journey of blending sevdah heritage with modern musical expression, Divanhana offers listeners a song that carries the spirit of sevdah classics—elevated with contemporary production, and interwoven with the virtuosic vocals, instrumental mastery, and rhythmic textures that have long defined the ensemble’s distinctive sound.
“Our new original piece, Rijekama, draws inspiration from the rich traditional music of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is a lively, humorous song about a man living a carefree, easygoing life—a path that inevitably leads him to ruin—all told through humor and satire, in the way our tradition expresses best. We have already performed the song at several recent concerts, and the audience embraced it wholeheartedly. For us, this work marks a precedent in our creativity and signals the beginning of a new era for the band,” said Selma Droce, vocalist of Divanhana.
The song has also been brought to life visually, with acclaimed Bosnian actor Elmir Krivalić taking on the lead role. The production was directed by longtime collaborator Sallex Perić, in cooperation with the production company MONO Digital, led by Davorin Đuranović and Dino Osmanović.
“We are truly delighted to have told this story with Elmir. His support, insights, and unique energy during filming added immense value and gave the entire process a distinctive character. Alongside him, our long-standing collaborators, whose work has inspired and guided us for years, helped us create a music-visual identity we are proud to present with this new single.” added Droce.
The music video serves as a visual tribute to the natural beauty of Bosnia and Herzegovina, showcasing its richness and diversity. The journey begins in Una National Park, with the emerald Una River and its waterfalls, continues across the historic Mehmed Paša Sokolović Bridge in Višegrad and the banks of the Drina River in Goražde, and concludes amidst the landscapes of Konjuh Nature Park and the greenery of the Zlača recreational area.
“Though carefully planned, the visuals revealed their true magic only on location. It is no coincidence that Bosnia and Herzegovina’s landscapes are increasingly recognized among the most beloved destinations in global tourism. Filming in these breathtaking places reminded the band of their mission from the very beginning—to promote the beauty of their homeland through music and to spread the spirit of sevdah together.” Selma concluded.
